Dee let's it all hang off...

I had done some work on my bike in preparation for my vacation, a trip on the Trans Labrador Highway, but I had no idea what the tank range was going to be after the carb mod so I needed a long run in excess of 400 kilometres to test the range. I strapped a gas can on the back of the bike, filled both the tank and the gas can, and my friend Dee and I set off for the 507 to find out when I was going to hit reserve...

Full to Reserve: 300km
Reserve to Empty: 350km
5 litre refill: 389km before Reserve again
Reserve to Empty: 439km
So the total range while carrying a 5litre gas can is 439km on an unloaded bike.
Mission success, but now the plan is to install an aftermarket exhaust and to move the KLX needle from 3rd clip from the top to 2nd clip from the top to see if I conserve even more fuel without trading too much power. The extra weight and gravel road will rob me of the full range of 439.

Dee was riding her 2004 Suzuki Katana 750 "Sapphire" and was challenging herself with hanging off and picking a racing line. She had a blast, and if she gets any faster at it, I'm going to need to get back on the Bandit in order to reel her in. ;)
